memory hunter, a video game

I keep getting these short, strong memories -- oddly enough, often from video games that I've played. The evocative aspects of them have imprinted themselves into my mind with the power of art and emotion, and thus deserve to be taken seriously. There is a sadness as of good times long past, and a certain amount of innocence lost. What odd trick of the mind decides to trigger these recollections -- an accident of rapidly firing neurons, or some elusive definite particle of perception? Is it a cousin to the tiny hint of a smell or song that brings me to a precious event previously forgotten? Is it rather a symptom of a slowly unraveling brain, casting about for meaning amidst a mental drawer packed with disposable keepsakes, mere evidence of time killed?
